Words cannot express my gratitude and appreciation for the Erica Gwen Foundation. I was lucky enough to receive the Erica Gwen Scholarship in July of 2022.
Upon learning about Erica Gwen and her story at Miami University, I was heartbroken and in disbelief. I was upset that someone so full of life, joy, and love could be taken away. College should be a place for students to learn, grow and become adults as they pursue their goals. They should feel safe and take care of their fellow students. It reminded me of the importance of speaking up and being an advocate for those who can’t. In today’s world, there are so many ways to help people by simply having the courage to speak up.
Erica Gwen’s care and passion for others inspire me to make a change and educate others so that this never happens again. By having empathy, compassion, and concern for everyone we can help those in need and make a difference. I am so thankful for the love and support the Erica Gwen Foundation has passed on through this scholarship. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to continue learning and advocate for change with sharing Erica Gwen’s mission to Inspire Encourage & Empower.
